Greg Johnston is a Barrie-born hockey player who rose through local minor hockey and the OHL before being drafted 42nd overall by the Boston Bruins in 1983. He played 187 NHL games with Boston and Toronto, won gold with Team Canada at the 1985 World Junior Championship, and later continued his pro career in Europe. After retiring in 2002, he returned to Barrie and became a member of the Barrie Sports Hall of Fame.
